Herman Miller Asia-Pacific was in need of new product photography assets, especially for their locally produced storage product. Inspiring lifestyle photography was required to improve the quality of the local website, in-store signage, and additional marketing material. The photoshoot took place in Herman Miller’s showroom in Dongguan, China. Since the photoshoot funds were modest a lot of thought went into planning for how to achieve the maximum amount of quality within a limited budget.
The art direction of this shoot included set design, prop styling, and directing the photographer to achieve the desired lighting, angles, and composition for each shot. The goal was to call attention to the many possibilities and high quality of the APAC storage product. In each set a specific product feature was made the focal point. Visual storytelling was used to highlight the numerous storage solutions these pieces can provide for various settings. Considered set design, unique props, beautiful lighting, and thoughtful composition prove that even a simple storage piece will look stunning when product function and quality are highlighted against a beautiful backdrop.
